A look back at WordCamp Kathmandu 2022

Alright! There it is folks. The much anticipated WordCamp Kathmandu 2022 has finally come to an end.

With over 450 attendees, 23 speakers, 10 contribution day team leads, 2 media partners, 18 volunteers, and 18 organizing team members, #WCKTM2022 was a huge success. We also had the largest number of international attendees this year. Thank you for making WCKTM one of your own.

I would like to thank everyone involved in this, from our sponsors to speakers to organizers, volunteers and attendees. Without you, all this wouldn’t have been possible. This WordCamp showed how people were looking for events like this to happen so that they can go out and meet their friends and hang out like they did, before the pandemic. And with quite a few WordCamps lined up. We sure are in for a fabulous end of 2022 and an equally better start to 2023.

This also marked the second year of my lead for WordCamp Kathmandu and with this, I have passed the baton to an even better candidate Surendra Shrestha. I am more than certain, that he will carry this community event forward in an even better way.

Like always, we would also be publishing our budget on the site, pretty soon enough.

Once again, thank you so much everyone for being a part of and helping make this a success. I couldn’t be happier.

And with that note, I leave you the pictures of the WordCamp. Hope you enjoy them.

Ujwal Thapa Scholarship

The Ujwal Thapa Scholarship entry is now closed. We will be announcing the awardee soon.

WordCamp Kathmandu 2022 is announcing the Ujwal Thapa scholarship as a tribute to the contribution of the Late Ujwal Thapa to the WordPress Community. There may be fewer of us who don’t know what he did for society and the WordPress community in Nepal in general. Among many things he initiated, the group WordPress Nepal was one that he founded along with Chandra Maharzan and Sakin Shrestha. This group has since grown leaps and bounds and is over 8200 people strong.

However, it is all the memories that he left for us but we can freshen up them by continue doing good wills in his footsteps. There are many initiations that he initiate and made successful with his hard work. This very group has climbed the ladder of success and all of us are thankful to him for that initiation he took back in 2011.

To honour his work and for his remembrance, we have decided to allocate 5 tickets as a scholarship for this event. These will be full fledge tickets for the two-day event. These tickets would be for people who would want to attend the event but cannot afford the ticket.

We are planning to provide 3 scholarships for people from outside Kathmandu valley and 2 for inside valley.
