WordCamp Kathmandu proudly carries forward the Ujwal Thapa Memorial Scholarship, honoring the memory of the late Ujwal Thapa, a visionary who co-founded Nepal’s WordPress community. His commitment to open-source values, education, and community-building helped grow a network of over 15,000 members, laying the foundation for WordPress in Nepal today.

In his memory, this scholarship continues to open doors for individuals passionate about WordPress who face financial or geographic barriers keeping the community’s spirit of inclusion alive.

Scholarship Overview

The scholarship offers selected recipients:

• Full access to the 2-day WordCamp Kathmandu event, all sessions, workshops, contributor activities, and networking
• Bus travel and 3 nights/4 days of accommodation (including meals) for scholars traveling from outside Kathmandu valley
• The chance to connect directly with WordPress professionals, contributors, and community leaders

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

2 scholarships are available. We encourage you to apply if you:

• Have genuine interest in WordPress and its community
• Need financial support to attend
• Live in a rural or underrepresented part of Nepal (preferred)
• Are eager to learn, contribute, and get involved

Applicants should fill out the scholarship form honestly, helping the committee understand your motivation and need.
