Event Operations
The Event Operations team keeps sessions running smoothly and ensures both speakers and attendees have a seamless experience.
Hall Lead
Lead operations inside an assigned session room.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate volunteers within the hall
- Welcome and support speakers
- Manage session transitions
- Keep talks running on schedule
- Communicate with organisers when needed
Time Keeper
Help every session start and finish on time.
Responsibilities
- Monitor presentation timing
- Provide time cues to speakers
- Coordinate with Hall Leads and emcees
Mic Runner
Support audience engagement during Q&A sessions.
Responsibilities
- Carry microphones to attendees
- Help speakers during audience discussions
- Keep Q&A flowing smoothly
Door Attendant
Welcome attendees and assist with room management.
Responsibilities
- Guide attendees to available seats
- Monitor room capacity
- Help minimise disruptions during sessions
Speaker Helper
Support speakers before and during their sessions.
Responsibilities
- Assist with presentation setup
- Coordinate arrival times
- Help with presentation logistics
- Answer speaker questions

Attendee Support
The Attendee Support team ensures every guest has a positive experience from arrival to departure.
Registration Support
Responsibilities
- Check in attendees
- Distribute badges
- Assist with registration questions
- Welcome guests
Swag Distributor
Responsibilities
- Organise merchandise
- Distribute event swag
- Help manage inventory
- Keep the swag station welcoming
Lunch Assistant
Responsibilities
- Guide meal service
- Assist with attendee flow
- Help with dietary enquiries
- Support catering logistics
Information Desk Attendant
Responsibilities
- Answer attendee questions
- Share schedules and venue information
- Help with Wi-Fi information
- Manage lost and found enquiries
Party Entrance Manager
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests
- Verify badges
- Manage entry to networking events
- Ensure a smooth guest experience

Media & Communications
Help share the WordCamp story with both attendees and the wider community.
Social Media Helper
Responsibilities
- Post live updates
- Capture photos and short videos
- Engage with attendees online
- Promote #WCKTM
Photographer
Responsibilities
- Photograph talks and workshops
- Capture networking moments
- Document community activities
- Deliver high-quality event photos

Contributor Day Assistant
Responsibilities
- Welcome contributors
- Help participants find teams

- Assist sponsor booths
- Coordinate sponsor requests
- Support sponsor representatives
- Act as a liaison with organisers
Errand Runner
Responsibilities
- Deliver supplies
- Support multiple teams
- Fill temporary staffing needs
- Handle unexpected requests
Role Assignment
During your application, you can select the volunteer roles that interest you most.
While we’ll always consider your preferences, final assignments will depend on the event schedule, volunteer availability, and operational needs.
